About Us
Founded in 2022 as a volunteer coalition of local organizations, the Bay Area Python Association (BAPyA) works to ensure inclusive and sustainable Python communities in the Bay Area through local meetups and a volunteer-run regional conference. BAPyA communities engage and elevate members through volunteering, speaking, and learning opportunities that inspire collaboration, growth, and technical excellence.
BAPyA is a fiscal sponsoree of the Python Software Foundation (PSF), a 501(c)(3) non-profit. Donations are accordingly tax-deductible. We strive to be as transparent as possible when it comes to the support we receive from our members and sponsors. Read on to learn more about our processes.
Even more details, such as board meeting minutes, can be found on our GitHub.

How we use funds
Unless otherwise specified, your donations, sponsorships, and ticket proceeds are used to:
Keep a 6 month float of running costs; so we know we have funding in place should we need extra cash for things (e.g., late-breaking venue changes)
Anything over and above our running costs accumulates into savings for the annual Bay Area Python conference, PyBay.
Funds are kept in accounts administrated by the Python Software Foundation.
